Your experience begins with a meeting at the Echo Point Visitors Centre in Katoomba, where you'll meet your Red Lantern Tour guide before setting off towards the famous Three Sisters and the Giant Stairway.
The walk begins with the descent down the Giant Stairway, taking you from the dramatic sandstone cliffs of Echo Point into the lush forests of the Jamison Valley. With hundreds of steps and steep sections, this is an exciting and challenging start to the adventure.
After completing the staircase descent, we'll reach Leura Forest, where we'll take a well-earned break for a fresh sandwich lunch.
Rather than rushing through the walk, this gives you time to relax, refuel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the forest before continuing deeper into the Blue Mountains.
Lunch is provided, however you will need to bring your own drinking water. Red Lantern Tours does not supply water for this tour. We recommend bringing plenty of water for the duration of the walk.
Dardanelles Pass & Fern Bower After lunch, we'll continue through the rainforest towards Dardanelles Pass and Fern Bower, experiencing a completely different side of the Blue Mountains away from the main tourist lookouts. Ending back at Echopoint.
The trail winds through dense rainforest beneath towering sandstone cliffs, with ferns, moss-covered rocks, waterfalls and native vegetation surrounding the track.
Your private guide will lead the way throughout the walk, sharing stories about the Blue Mountains, its natural environment and the landscape around you. There will also be plenty of opportunities to stop for photographs and take in the scenery.
This is a private Blue Mountains hiking tour for those who want to experience the region beyond the famous lookouts, combining some of Katoomba's most iconic walking tracks with the peaceful rainforest of Leura Forest, Dardanelles Pass and Fern Bower.
Please note: This is a challenging bushwalk involving steep sections, extensive stairs and uneven terrain. Guests should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable undertaking a demanding full-day hike. Red Lantern Tours does not provide drinking water, so guests must bring enough water for the entire tour.
Track conditions and access can change due to weather, maintenance and National Parks closures.
Other days and times are available, please reach out.
