Backyard Stargazing, Sydney - We bring the universe to you
Sydney, NSW
About this Adventure
Experience the wonder of the night sky from the comfort of your own home with our private Backyard Stargazing Experience. Instead of travelling to a remote location, we bring professional astronomy equipment, expert guidance, and an unforgettable night under the stars directly to your backyard.
Whether you're a curious beginner, a family looking for a unique evening activity, or someone who has always wanted to learn more about astronomy, this 2 hour experience is designed to make the universe accessible, engaging, and memorable.
Please note you will need to have a decently open view of the sky in order to get the full experience.
What to Expect
After setting up our telescope at your home, we'll begin with an introduction to the night sky and the celestial objects visible on the evening of your tour. You'll learn how astronomers navigate the heavens, how stars are classified, and how to identify prominent constellations and bright stars overhead.
Using a high-quality telescope, you'll have the opportunity to observe a variety of celestial objects depending on the season and sky conditions. These may include:
- The Moon and its craters
- Visible planets such as Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, or Venus
- Open and globular star clusters
- Nebulae where new stars are born
- Distant galaxies millions of light-years away
- Binary stars and other fascinating astronomical targets
As each object is viewed, we'll explain what you're seeing, how it formed, how far away it is, and why it is significant within the wider universe.
What You'll Learn During the session, you'll discover:
- How to identify major constellations
- The stories and mythology behind the stars
- How planets differ from stars
- How telescopes reveal hidden details of the universe
- The life cycle of stars
- The scale of our galaxy and the wider universe
- How to find astronomical objects yourself
- Practical astrophotography techniquesOur goal is to leave you with a greater appreciation for the night sky and the confidence to continue exploring it on your own.
