We go beyond simple stargazing, weaving together the stories of creation of galaxies above with the geology of the Grampians below, including how differing cultural perspectives viewed and interpreted the night sky. It is a slow, sensory-rich journey that highlights the vital importance of preserving our dark sky heritage and the nocturnal ecosystems that thrive within it.

Itinerary

Departure: Halls Gap Information Centre Our journey begins in the heart of the village. Meet your guide at the Halls Gap Information Centre, where the towering sandstone cliffs of the National Park provide a dramatic backdrop as the twilight begins to settle over the valley.

The Journey: Storytelling Transfer We board our comfortable mini-bus for a 20-minute transfer into the deeper, quieter reaches of Gariwerd. As we leave the village lights behind, your guide begins the narrative, sharing stories of space and time to begin setting the context of our journey.

The Experience: Celestial Storytelling Arriving at our curated Dark Sky location, we step out into the crisp night air. Using provided optics, we focus our attention on the celestial map above. Rather than chasing distant nebulae, we immerse ourselves in the constellations, learning to read the sky as a seasonal calendar and a living cultural archive while enjoying gourmet local treats.
