Ultimate Rock Adventure - Full day

Push your limits on a seamless 6-hour vertical odyssey through the heart of the Grampians/Gariwerd landscape.

This is a continuous, high-consequence loop journey designed for small groups (max 6) who crave height and technical movement. Starting from our HQ, you'll transition from the serene waters of Venus Baths to a fixed-rope ascent of the steep, scrambly Elephant's Hide. This is a proper adventurous journey, while not traditional rock climbing, it is every bit as challenging. You will navigate gullies and an exposed ridgeline before concluding with a breathtaking 70-meter descent. This tour requires a reasonable level of fitness due to the sustained, steep ascent required to reach the summit.

Itinerary

Arrival & Gear Up: Meet at the Absolute Outdoors shop in Halls Gap. Our team will fit you with professional-grade helmets and harnesses and conduct a safety briefing.

The Approach: A scenic walk out to Venus Baths, where we cross the creek to reach the base of the vertical sections.

The Ascent: Begin a technical fixed-rope ascent on the steep, iconic sandstone of Elephant's Hide. This section involves scrambly rock movement joined by a network of hidden gullies.

The Summit: Reach the summit of Mackey's Peak for unparalleled 360-degree views of the valley and the surrounding ranges.

The Traverse: Navigate the intimidating knife-edge ridgeline. This sharp, exposed spine is fully protected by safety ropes, allowing you to focus on the incredible exposure.

The Ultimate Abseil: The grand finale. One by one, we descend a 70-meter vertical rope, towering directly over Halls Gap.

Return: A relaxed 10-minute walk brings us back into the heart of town to de-gear and reflect on the journey.

A Proper Adventurous Journey Unlike traditional "top-rope" climbing, where you stay in one location, the Ultimate Rock Adventure is a mobile loop. It utilises a variety of vertical skills, from fixed-rope scrambling to exposed ridge traversing, to move through the landscape. It offers the same level of adrenaline and technicality as traditional climbing, but within the context of an epic mountain journey. The Ultimate Vertical Perspective By combining fixed-rope climbing, ridgeline traversing, and a massive 70-meter abseil into one continuous flow, this tour offers a perspective of Halls Gap that few ever see. With a maximum group size of six, you are guaranteed a personalised experience as you navigate the raw, rugged beauty of the National Park from a position of total exposure.
