This beginner-friendly experience is designed for those seeking a deeper, quieter connection with the Grampians/Gariwerd landscape. Guided by our expert team, you will glide across glassy waters that perfectly reflect the jagged silhouette of the surrounding ranges. After a comprehensive safety briefing and paddling induction, you’ll navigate the calm shoreline, observing local birdlife and the shifting light. The experience reaches its peak when we moor on the water to enjoy a seasonal nibble as the sun dips below the horizon, offering a rare moment of absolute stillness before a gentle paddle back under the fading light.
Arrival & Briefing: Meet your guide at the Stawell Yacht Club 5 minutes prior to departure. You will be fitted with a life jacket and receive a clear safety briefing and basic paddling tips to ensure you feel confident on the water.
The Launch: Set off from the shores of Lake Fyans as the sun begins its descent. The water is typically at its calmest during this window, providing an effortless glide.
Nature Observation: Follow your guide along the shoreline, taking in the reflections of the Grampians/Gariwerd ranges. Your guide will highlight local birdlife and the cultural significance of the surrounding waters.
Sunset Mooring: As the sky transforms, we will moor the canoes in a peaceful section of the lake. Here, we pause for a rest to enjoy a light refreshment ranging from a savoury platter to a warm treat while watching the sun set behind the peaks.
Twilight Return: Concluding the experience, we enjoy a quiet, atmospheric paddle back to the yacht club, arriving just before dark as the first stars begin to appear.
