Unbreakable 2026

🧠 The Origin Story

Unbreakable is inspired by the legendary Barkley Marathons, widely regarded as the hardest ultramarathon in the USA, if not the world. Conceived by the legendary Gary Cantrell (aka Lazarus Lake), the race was inspired by the 1977 prison escape of James Earl Ray from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Ray managed just 13km in 55 hours through Frozen Head State Park. Laz famously said he could’ve done 100 miles in that time. And so the Barkley was born, named after his neighbour and friend Barry Barkley. The French answered with Chartreuse Terminorum. And here in Australia… We created UNBREAKABLE 🇦🇺🔥

📍 What You Need To Know

📌 You must be near the start line Friday afternoon in June (before race weekend). Yes, that likely means taking the day off work. 🕛 Check-in: Between 12pm–6pm Friday ⏳ Start time: Somewhere between 7pm Friday and sometime Saturday You’ll receive 1 hour’s notice.

Near Marysville, Victoria 🇦🇺 The approximate location? Somewhere on the 3D map… 👀 This isn’t a race. It’s a reckoning. 🔥 Registrations are open. 💀 Minimum 20 brave souls required. 🏔️ The mountain is waiting. Are you Unbreakable? 📍 The Location Revealed The veil lifts… Unbreakable is staged near Marysville, in what locals call “The Triangle.” 🔺 For some, it may feel more like the Bermuda Triangle… runners enter, but few return unchanged. Unbreakable will adopt several elements inspired by the legendary Barkley Marathons, including an unknown start time. You must be ready. Always.

📱 Participants will be tracked under strict device rules. Your tracking device will double as your emergency lifeline, commonly known as your smartphone, carried in a sealed, non-see-through waterproof bag. Your entry requires: • A smartphone • The official tracking App fully installed • No other apps active during the event

Any breach = disqualification. No debates. No excuses.

This is an event designed to challenge you, to test you, and quite possibly to break your spirit. It is achievable, but history suggests it may take more than one attempt. We are, however, more than happy to be proven wrong… and will proudly congratulate anyone truly Unbreakable. 🏔️🔥
