Long Forest | Short Hike

This short hike is a perfect morning out.

It’s not too far from Melbourne and takes in some lesser-known tracks, followed by winding and descending single trail. It ticks all the boxes, so make sure you add it to your adventure list. The route passes through one of the few remaining areas of Mallee vegetation in Victoria, winding through rocky Mallee woodlands to a tranquil flat area along Coimadai Creek, featuring striking Blue-box trees. It also descends to a peaceful spot on Djerriwarrh Creek, ideal for a quiet nature escape. To add variety, our loop includes a number of different tracks, a little bit of uphill, and—as always—is perfectly matched to your morning needs or makes for a great short hike.

Our short walks are your best opportunity when you don’t have a whole day to spare, and we’ll have some morning snacks available to keep you going. It’s a great way to start your day, have a little exploration and get you feeling happier and healthier!

Our short hikes are usually around or less than 10km and graded 2, 3 or 4.

• Grade 2 - At the easier end of the scale and perfect for beginners and those just wanting an active social outing. They are a great way to gain confidence, meet like minded people and start a journey of hiking.
• Grade 3 - Fits right in the middle.
• Grade 4 - A few more undulations (hills) or just go a quicker pace, and suitable for those with moderate to good fitness.

Remember there is always the chance of an extra TSA ‘let’s go this way’ element :)
