Sunday Hike Melbourne Werribee Gorge Circuit Walk - Moderate/Hard 8km

Join Wander with Luisa for a morning adventure through the spectacular Werribee Gorge State Park.

This approximately 8 km circuit is one of Melbourne’s classic adventure hikes, with rocky trails, gorge views, river scenery, steep sections and the well-known cable-assisted section alongside the Werribee River. It’s a fantastic walk for anyone looking for something a little more adventurous while still being achievable with a reasonable level of fitness.

What to Expect

We’ll follow the Werribee Gorge Circuit through rugged bushland and along the gorge, with plenty of beautiful views along the way. The walk includes:

• Rocky and uneven trails
• Hills and some steeper sections
• Gorge and river views
• The cable-assisted section beside the river
• Beautiful bushland and rocky landscapes

There will be time for breaks, photos and a snack along the way, and we’ll walk at a comfortable group pace.

Is This Hike For Me?

This hike is best suited to people with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable walking on uneven and rocky terrain.

The cable section requires you to use a fixed cable for support while navigating a narrow rocky section beside the river. It’s part of what makes this hike fun, but participants should be comfortable with this type of terrain.

What to Bring

Please bring:

• Hiking shoes or sturdy runners with good grip
• At least 1.5 litres of water
• Snacks
• Small backpack
• Rain jacket
• Warm layers
• Hat and sunscreenWinter conditions can change quickly, so please come prepared for cool or wet weather.

Important

We’ll meet at Meikles Point Picnic Area at 9:30 am for introductions and a quick briefing before beginning the hike.

Please arrive on time and allow enough time for parking. After the hike we will go have a bite to eat/nice cold beverage together
