Liza Costello is a counselor with MGA Counselling Services and a guide with Forest Therapy Victoria. Her therapeutic work and love for nature ensures her approach to guiding groups is both empathetic and kind.
Matt Glover is the Lead Guide at Forest Therapy Victoria and the director of MGA Counselling Services. He is a trauma informed counsellor, working with individuals and couples to achieve a full and abundant life. He is Australia's first qualified counsellor to be accredited with the International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance.
Together, Liza and Matt run events at Edgars Lake to bring calm and wellbeing to suburbia. This walk is designed to give your Mum the gift of quiet and stillness in nature for Mother's Day!
Tucked quietly within the northern suburbs, Edgars Lake Parkland offers a gentle invitation to slow down. The lake itself sits like a reflective mirror, often still enough to hold the sky, the trees, and the passing clouds in soft symmetry. Winding paths trace the water’s edge, drawing you into a rhythm of unhurried walking, where each step seems to naturally deepen your breath and soften your awareness.
The atmosphere here shifts beautifully with the day. Early mornings bring a mist rising off the water, birds calling across the surface, and the quiet sense that the world is just waking. By late afternoon, golden light filters through the canopy, illuminating the textures of bark, leaf, and water. Ducks glide without urgency, and the occasional ripple becomes something to notice rather than ignore. Even within the gentle presence of nearby suburbia, there’s a surprising sense of refuge.
For a forest therapy experience, this setting lends itself to reconnection—both inwardly and with the natural world. There’s a subtle companionship in the landscape: the steady presence of old trees, the cyclical movement of water, the grounded feeling of earth beneath your feet. It’s not about escaping life, but about rediscovering a quieter way of being within it—one that Melbourne so often hides in plain sight.
Join Matt for a time of healing under the trees.
