Camp Confident - Beginner Camping Workshop

Ever wanted to go camping but didn't know where to start?

Camp Confident is designed for people who have always wanted to experience camping but felt unsure about choosing gear, setting up a campsite or spending the night outdoors.

Whether you're completely new to camping, returning after many years, travelling solo, or new to Australia and keen to experience the outdoors, this workshop will help you build confidence in a relaxed, supportive environment.

This is not a survival course or a fitness challenge.

It's a practical, friendly weekend where you'll learn by doing.

During the workshop you'll learn:

✔ How to choose the right campsite ✔ How to set up your tent or swag ✔ Sleeping comfortably outdoors ✔ Essential camping equipment (and what you don't need) ✔ Camp kitchen basics ✔ Simple meal ideas ✔ Staying warm on cold nights ✔ Camp etiquette ✔ Safety tips ✔ Packing up efficiently

You'll also have plenty of time to ask questions and learn from real camping experience.

Who is this workshop for?

• Want to meet other beginner campers

What to bring

Participants should bring:

• Tent or swag
• Mattress
• Sleeping bag or bedding
• Camp chair
• Personal clothing and toiletries

Please don’t feel you need to buy lots of expensive equipment before attending.

If you’re unsure whether your gear is suitable, simply ask before the workshop. Helping people work out what they really need and what they don’t is one of the main reasons Camp Confident exists.

Group Size

Maximum 5 participants Keeping numbers small means everyone receives individual help and has plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

About your instructor

Hi, I'm Bec. I'm a Melbourne primary school teacher and the founder of Camp Confident. Over the last three years I've spent countless weekends buying, testing and using different camping gear to discover what really works and what beginners can safely ignore. I created Camp Confident because I believe camping doesn't have to be intimidating. With the right guidance, anyone can enjoy Australia's incredible outdoors.
